I realized something after this site had been published for several months - I left out out a big category I needed to talk about. So, since this is a work in progress, I will eventually discuss the following four general topics. I will add information, downloads and links as I develop them.

1. The Purpose or Goal of Your Website:
What is the reason it will exist? What are you hoping to gain? Your goals?
Getting Started on Your Website - A Checklist (Part 1 of 2)
2. Basic Structure of Your Website:
What types and how many pages will it have? In what order will they be placed? How will someone navigate or find their way around your site? Will you need photos? Videos? Podcasts? (See #3 download)
3. Development of Your Website:
Will you need custom graphic art work done? Do you need an expert to develop the site or can you tackle the development and maintenance yourself? What is your budget for this work? What do your competitors’ sites look like? What do you like about or dislike about Websites you visited?
You MUST listen to Google and establish yourself as a Google Webmaster. Follow what they teach about optimizing your site for Search Engine results. This is what we call SEO, or search engine optimization. Here is a handy guide.

In my opinion generating sales is the main reason for a business Website, so I initially started here. The secret to boosting sales on a Website is to generate qualified traffic, lots of qualified traffic. You cannot just put up your and expect the world to beat a path to your door. You have to let your customers and prospects know where to find you. I will eventually discuss target niche marketing, writing good content, securing backlinks (hyperlinks to your site from another site), etc.
Inbound versus Outbound marketing is an overview of this topic. I developed a Power Point Slide Show I will shortly post on a popular sharing site.
