I will be starting a new MeetUp Group shortly for people interested in being a Do It Yourself Webmaster. This, quite frankly, is the most economical way to promote your business in this day and age. It far surpasses the traditional outbound marketing techniques of direct mail, e-mail blasts, print and media, advertising specialties, even face to face networking with respect to ROI (return on investment). It is, however, time intensive; but once you learn the techniques, it can take just a few hours weekly.
The MeetUp group will be informal, generally with a brief presentation followed by round tables or group discussions. It will be focused on starting a site and marketing a site. It will not be at restaurants where food or beverage purchases are required to keep costs down. Refreshments probably will not be served. Membership will either be on a low cost annual dues or per meeting fee. Members will have first right to attend events in case response exceeds space. The per meeting fee might be $2.00 to cover costs, with a portion donated to charity. Guest speakers may charge additional fees if the program is deemed worthwhile.
Anybody who can contribute to the round table discussion will be encouraged to participate.
We already had our initial meeting and are looking for places to hold our MeetUps in the BuffaloGrove/ Wheeling/ Arlington Heights area. We are actively looking for sponsors to defray costs and offer a meeting location.
