Glen Allsopp of Viper Chill did a recent guest blog on Hobo-Web n, of all things, guest blogging! The article was titled: How to Get the Most from Guest Blogging (4 Tips You Probably Don’t Know About). Although I knew a lot of the benefits of guest blogging, Glen pointed out some other points of view that had no occurred to me and I want to thank him.
Allsopp says in 90% of the cases you do not need to establish a connection to a blogger to become a guest blogger. Just send them the material as long as it contains good material because they are sometimes at a loss of time to write for new posts.
I did know about the traffic you receive from guest blogging and the search engine benefits of the links. However he talks about increasing your viewers and getting links from other sites, even if they are smaller.
Another clue is to write for other blogs instead of posting that content on your own blog. Test it and see what happens. The exposure and traffic may furnish greater benefit to you than hoarding the material for yourself.
His last bit of wisdom is essential: Not only that, but to get the SEO value from guest blogging you should be linking to pages on your site that are optimised around the phrase you’re linking with, and vice versa.
