I start teaching a regular class at Indian Trail Public Library (Wheeling) for active job seekers two weeks from today, on March 14th. I will instruct participants how to use social media tools (LinkedIn, YouTube, WordPress Resume Sites, Twitter…etc) to broaden their job search horizons and enhance their attractiveness to prospective employers.
These are much the same principles and tools small business owners can use to promote their businesses on the Web. Businesses may also use these techniques in reverse to seek out and search for prospects at a much lower cost than traditional methods.
These are hands on classes, not lectures nor presentations. Computers and Internet access is provided for the first 10 participants only. Others must furnish their own laptops and WIFI cards.
This is not a beginners course. Familiarity with computers and the Internet is required. A LinkedIn profile should be established prior to class, and made close to 100% as possible. Resumes in word processing format, or in a text file, along with recent jpg format pictures should be brought to class on flash drives.
If you know of anyone who might benefit from this, please point them in our direction. Classes are scheduled for Monday mornings beginning on March 14, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. Registration is required. Calendar link: http://itpld-ts.itpld.lib.il.us/evanced/lib/eventcalendar.asp
At the present time there are no classes scheduled for April due to scheduling conflicts. This was put together rather quickly in less than one day last week. Classes resume in May on Mondays and continue for four months as of right now.
Evening Classes Next Week
I also have a two class session scheduled as well at the Buffalo Grove Park District (Alcott Center) on March 7th and 14th, from 7:30 – 8:30 PM. Details and registration.
