Don’t know about you, but I am certainly not a touch typist. Never was, never will be. Oh, I envy my wife Judy and even more so my daughter Ely! They can just type away while looking at the screen. Ely was tested one of the fastest by a temporary agency when she was working there a few years ago.
Me, touch typing, NOT! I have to look at those keys on the keyboard. So I have to memorize what I want to type to speed it up. Read something and type at the same time? Heck no, I’ll ask Ely please to do it for me, unless I can scan OCR. Albeit (using that word a lot, lately) I am pretty fast, but you guys are always pointing out my spelling and punctuation errors.
And I sincerely want to thank Oracle, as well as their predecessor Sun Microsystems, for making a perfectly inadequate spell checker for Open Office, the free office suite. Thank heaven I don’t have to pay Microsoft any longer for Office. (Although I want to encourage you to continue to make purchases since we still own stock!)
So along comes this proposal I know should be letter perfect. I search online and find this great (free) spell checker. Just plop the copy into it and oh boy! Also has a feature where it will spell check a Web page and email you a copy. Haven’t used it yet since I am afraid to measure my own work. Guess I’ll wait and use it on a client’s site to see if it works well there also. They send you an email with the results. Check it out at http://orangoo.com/spellcheck/
Anybody out there have anything else to suggest or something they use?
