Lewis Howes is one of the people I look up to for sharing his techniques on how to find a job marketing yourself using social media. I discovered his videos a while back and lament I self taught myself much of what he professes prior to finding and studying his videos. Lewis also has free Webinars as discussed in this video and of course sells a self study program (he is in business after all is said and done).
By the way I do not agree with everything he teaches. His claims about how easy it is to be found on Google for instance are much too simplistic in my estimation. I also feel everyone should have a resume Web site using WordPress as well as a YouTube resume channel. These are ways to increase your visibility even more in an effort to be found.
I first published my LinkedIn Additional Resources page with a link to Lewis Howes’ site on July 11, 2011. I include a link and reference to Lewis (and other resources) on my passouts to job seekers in libraries and career centers where I do LinkedIn presentations for unemployed job seekers. Lewis is, of course, younger and more photogenic than I am (yes it is true), plus he is building an empire. Good for him! And he is a true marketing genius in this regard. Much of the information he expouses is available on this Web site starting at my LinkedIn page and is free.
The same principles also apply to small business marketing on LinkedIn. Be seen, be visible, be found. LinkedIn helps validate your credentials and opens a networking portal to thousand and thousands of potential business partners. What Lewis and I both did was reverse engineer the process to apply to job seekers.
As with any journey to enlightenment, my advice is to take in as much information as you can (for what you deem as creible sources) before making any purchase or a decision. I have always sold as a teacher and consultant; I try to explain your alternatives and expect you to make an adult decision. Then decide which avenue suits you best and then you must take action and do something if you wish to take control of your destiny and change your life and your circumstances. Doing something is always better than doing nothing; and by doing nothing that is still a decision, albeit the wrong decision.
