Are you interested in meeting some of your LinkedIn connections and others in person to get to know them on a personal level?
Would you like the opportunity to let others get to know you in return?
Together to perhaps inspire, motivate and grow each other collectively?
Would you like to learn more about LinkedIn and how others use it to help you use it more effectively?
Then you might be interested in learning more about LinkedIn Local (#LinkedInLocal) and help sponsor, plan or attend an upcoming event.
LinkedIn Local is a facilitated networking event. The purpose is to gather people from diverse walks of life so they can genuinely get to know the human side behind their online LinkedIn profiles. They can thus connect face-to-face and extend relationships beyond merely job titles, business cards and company names.
The idea is for people to invite a few of their LinkedIn connections they have not met yet to a local informal event. We will meet informally, F-2-F, talk and start taking our LinkedIn connections offline. This is the next step to real networking and developing true relationships. This way we can remove the spam and selling that permeates the discussion groups and postings.
I am trying to gauge interest in the Chicagoland north and northwest suburbs for such events.
A few of us have already discussed options such as –
- Brown bag lunch events
- Meeting during the day or after hours at a coffee house or other venue
- Perhaps even weekend meetups

They, and all of #LinkedInLocal, support the following values and beliefs in this effort. You should:
– Embrace diversity.
– Want to develop genuine relationships.
– Respect one another.
– Be an authentic role model.
– Work collectively.
– Withhold judgment.
